So Victoria Clark...who I adore...supposedly made her Broadway debut in the original Sunday in the Park With George back in '85. Ummm....does anyone know what character she played? I can't seem to find ANYTHING about her in this production. Yes I have checked IBDB.
???!?!?
Curious--

Hi Justin. I happen to know she was a swing. That's weird it's not on ibdb. I don't know what parts she covered. I just looked it up to make sure and found an interview with her. Here's a little bit of it:
"I would often sing new theater-music as part of one of our classes. One day, I got a call that there was an opening in the cast of Sunday in the Park with George on Broadway. I said fine -- not really wildly excited. And I got it. Understudying seven parts.
So then my voice was in complete shambles. I was belting my head off, without really knowing how. My voice would go smooth, smooth, smooth, big belted B-flat. Then crazy passaggio, nothing, and on up in legit soprano. Finally, I met my teacher, Ed Sayegh. I walked in and sang ''Quando me'n vo','' which people usually went crazy for. He just looked at me and said, ''You know your voice is a mess.'' Well, I knew then and there that I had to work with this guy.
He took the whole thing apart, lightened the top, stripped everything down to nothing. Just coordinated a very thin, even sound. When we had that in one piece, we built from there. He was the one who urged me to keep the high voice healthy, even though no one was really hiring me to sing up there. And I guarantee you that's why I am in such good vocal shape doing this part eight times a week. He really didn't have room for me in his studio, so Ed saw me five days a week at 8:30 A.M."
